Sports & Performance
For active kids, runners, and adults who want to move without recurring foot, ankle, or knee niggles holding them back.
Sport amplifies small problems fast
In daily life, a slightly low arch or a mild gait imbalance might never bother you. In sport, the impact is 3 to 5 times higher and the repetition is constant. Small issues become loud — knee pain after a long run, ankle rolls during badminton, recurring shin splints that show up only when training picks up.
Custom insoles for sport are designed for both the foot AND the activity. We look at your gait, your sport's typical movement pattern, and the shoes you actually use. The result is support that holds up under load and helps the foot work efficiently instead of fighting itself.
Sport-related foot signals in kids vs adults
Whether it is your child after football practice or your own knees after running — the patterns to watch for are different.
What to watch in young athletes
- Pain at the back of the heel during or after sport (possible Sever's disease).
- Tender bump below the kneecap, sore to touch (possible Osgood-Schlatter).
- Avoiding sport or play they used to enjoy.
- Limping during the warm-up but fine by the end of practice.
- Frequent ankle rolls or sprains.
- Complaints of leg pain at night that disrupt sleep (different from typical growing pains, which usually pass).
Why kid athletes are different
Growth plates and developing tendons make active kids vulnerable to specific injuries adults do not get. Most are self-limiting if managed early, but unmanaged they can take a child out of sport for months.
The combination of repetitive impact and a growing body needs both load management and the right footwear / insole support.
How we approach it for kid athletes
Sport-specific assessment: gait at walking and running pace where possible, shoe wear analysis, and conversation about training load.
Custom insoles designed for the sport — different priorities for football, badminton, athletics, or daily school PE.
More about our kids programmeWhat to watch in adult sport
- Recurring shin splints, runner's knee, or IT band pain on the same side.
- Heel pain in the morning that eases with movement (plantar fasciitis).
- Achilles tightness or pain after running or jumping sports.
- Pain that always shows up after a certain distance or duration.
- One-side overuse injuries that keep coming back despite rest.
- New aches after a sudden increase in training volume or intensity.
Why foot mechanics drive sport injuries
Most overuse injuries in the lower leg trace back to how the foot strikes the ground. Small inefficiencies, multiplied by tens of thousands of steps, become injuries.
Generic insoles rarely solve sport-specific problems because they are not designed for your gait, your sport, or your training load.
How we approach it for adult athletes
Assessment includes static scan, walking gait, and where possible a brief run observation. Pressure mapping highlights overload zones.
Insoles are designed for both your sport and your recovery — what works in running shoes will not match your court shoes. We will say when a referral to a sports physio adds value.

-
Active kids
Football, badminton, gymnastics, dance. Custom support reduces repetitive heel strike, ankle roll, and arch fatigue that come with weekly training.
-
Adult runners
Shin splints, plantar fasciitis, IT band issues — many trace back to foot mechanics. We map your gait, design support that works with your stride.
-
Stability sports
Hiking, badminton, tennis. Better foot position improves push-off and lateral control. Less wasted energy. Less compensation up the leg chain.
What active people ask us
Will I feel a difference in my running?
Many runners notice changes within the first few weeks — often a quieter stride and less calf fatigue. Larger changes (faster recovery, fewer recurring niggles) tend to build over several weeks of consistent use. Individual response varies.
Are custom insoles for sport different from daily insoles?
Same fundamentals, different priorities. Sport insoles need to handle higher impact, shear forces, and faster movement. We design with the sport in mind — heel cushioning for runners, lateral support for racquet sports, arch lift for hikers.
Can my child wear them in football boots?
Most football and futsal boots with removable insoles work fine. We check fit during the assessment. For very tight boots, we can design a thinner support that still does the job.
